Activity Statement export from IBKR Account Management
Interactive Brokers exports a multi-section Activity Statement in CSV format. Composure reads the Trades section, automatically pairs opening and closing fills by symbol (FIFO), and reconstructs round-trip trades with realized P&L. Futures and Stocks are fully supported.
Before you start
- An IBKR account (live or paper)
- Access to Account Management (web portal or desktop TWS)
Step-by-step guide
- 1
Log in to Account Management
Go to the IBKR portal at interactivebrokers.com → Client Portal → Log in with your IBKR credentials.
- 2
Open Reports → Activity
In the left sidebar, go to Reports → Activity (or Performance & Reports → Statements). Select "Activity" statement type.
- 3
Set date range
Choose a custom date range covering the trades you want to import. IBKR limits free statements to about 1 year per export — split into multiple exports if you need more history.
- 4
Download as CSV
Click the download icon and select CSV format. Do not select HTML or PDF — Composure requires the CSV Activity Statement specifically.
- 5
Review and import in Composure
Go to Journal → Import Trades, select the .csv file, review the parsed trades preview, then click Import selected trades.
Important notes
- Options, Forex, Bonds, and Warrants are skipped — only Futures and Stocks trades are imported.
- For futures, the contract expiry is stripped from the symbol automatically (e.g. "NQ MAR 2024" becomes "NQ").
- Commission and fees from both the open and close fills are summed into the total commission per trade.
- If an open fill has no matching close fill (position still open at export time), that fill is skipped — only closed round-trips are imported.
- For paper trading accounts, the same export process applies from the Paper Trading portal.
